I lead design teams to creatively solve business challenges in a wide range of industries through user-centric design systems, applications for web, mobile, and specialized devices, and interfaces for users from enterprise to consumer.

AMDOCS STUDIOS

was STELLAR ELEMENTS / PROJEKT202, LLC. 2005–present

At Amdocs, I lead design teams in cross-discipline projects working closely with researchers, product managers, and engineers. I have consulted for a wide range of local and international clients — telecom, fintech, healthcare, logistics, education, and retail while consistently promoting user-centric design systems to meet business goals.

Principal Designer, 2018–present

My primary mission as a principal is elevating the craft and quality of the design team’s deliverables and presentations via streamlining and modernizing design-ops processes, methodologies, and toolsets. Additional responsibilities include creative direction, pitch deck creation, reviewing portfolios and interviewing potential designer candidates, and coaching and mentoring new designers and students facilitating their entry into a UX career.

Key clients: T-Mobile, Experian, Disney+, Dell, AT&T

Senior User Experience Designer, 2008–2018

I scoped and led numerous engagements as well as partnered with researchers, PMs and ENG teams. I was responsible for creating visual directions, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, pixel-perfect comps, visual and interaction specifications and redlines. I presented designs to clients and prospects and supervised the work of my design team.

Key clients: Daimler-Benz, CapitalOne, Lowes, e-MDs

User Interface Designer, 2005–2008

My early days as a UI Designer were primarily centered upon visual explorations, translating wireframes into high fidelity rendered comps, redlines and specifications, and final digital asset creation and management for delivery to engineering teams. It was in the wireframe-translation where I began questioning and voicing the decisions of the UX designers. This eventually led to expanding my skills and responsibilities eventually joining them in the decision-making process.

Key clients: SAP, Logitech, Motorola/NFL, PayPal

SALVAGE VANGUARD THEATER

Austin, Texas. 1999–2022

For 20+ years I have served as a company member and de facto house designer for the nonprofit organization Salvage Vanguard Theater.

Through intense collaboration with artistic directors, playwrights, and directors I built a cohesive yet richly diverse house style for a wide range of identity materials (posters, postcards, programs, signage, props, etc.) for 40+ plays as well as numerous events and fundraisers. I created marketing materials, annual reports, scripts, merchandise, custom logos for their 10th & 25th anniversaries; and designed, built, and maintained their website for 10+ years.

SMILING IS FUN (DESIGN)

Austin, Texas. 2003–2016

Smiling Is Fun was the banner under which I offered my freelance graphic design services to non-profit organizations, retail, restaurants, and entertainment. Among my projects were websites, posters, music packaging, signage, and corporate collateral.

TEAM SMARTYPANTS! Inc.

Austin, Texas. 1995–2003

Team Smartypants! was a multidisciplinary boutique design studio founded by myself and two other university alumni. I created logos, corporate collateral, posters, t-shirts, technical illustrations, books, signage, animations, websites, CD-ROM (education, games, and entertainment titles), and CD-Extra content and design for Willie Nelson, Soul Coughing, Geezinslaws, etc.

Key clients: Sapient, Girl Games, Mattel, Simon & Schuster, Willie Nelson

THE INMAR GROUP

San Antonio, Texas. 1993–1995

In the early days of interactive media, The Inmar Group produced digital campaigns for automotive and telecom industries designed to fit on a single floppy disk. As a visual designer, I created UIs and illustrations with primitive drawing tools in low-res 4-bit palettes for tiny screens and high compression with their custom APIs. In the later days of my tenure with the company I was able to design for CD-ROMs and take advantage of the richness of 8-bit graphics and seemingly unlimited storage.

Key clients: Cadillac, Alcatel, Pontiac, GMC Trucks
